Jonathan Winters: Wagon Master

Heres Winters again, completely improvising a scene as a pioneer wagon master on a 1950s TV show. Its obvious that the other actors were told to shout out random questions for him to respond to on the fly.

Abbott Costello Errol Flynn: Niagara Falls

For a period of time in the early fifties, Bud Abbott & Lou Costello made frequent guest shots on one of the premiere comedy shows of it's day "The Colgate Comedy Hour". On this particular episode of the show, movie star Errol Flynn makes an appearance performing the vaudeville sketch "Niagara Falls". Playing the psychotic who is triggered into a rage by the mear mention of the waterfall, he goes berserk and starts pummeling Lou with each utterance. Obviously with his career on the skids from the ravages of drugs and booze, Flynn is terribly miscast in this burlesque classic. Sid Fields performing the same role on the boy's half hour syndicated show vastly outshines the once great Hollywood star. The scene also underscores the quote of actor Peter O'Toole from the movie "My Favorite Year" who incidently plays the Flynn-inspired character Alan Swann. He says, "Dying is easy... comedy is hard!"
